You must have been warned against letting the golden hours slip by; but some of them are golden only because we let them slip by.
James Matthew Barrie
So it’s official. My 20th reunion has come and gone. I was so over-concerned about appearances and expectations, that I almost let the moment slip by without the enjoyment that was there to be basked in.
I enjoyed the time supremely. I reconnected with many whom I have not seen since 1988. It was great to see each one.
And as for my biggest concern going into the reunion – the fact that I am now born again – it was not a concern at all. Was I a sore thumb? Was I obviously different than I was 20 years ago? Perhaps so, but I was really comfortable with the whole thing. Unapologetically comfortable.
The quote above cements the whole thing. Because we have all moved on to something else, the times we once embraced are now golden to us. What a nice taste in my mouth. I am now eagerly awaiting my 25th.
