Today I had to chuckle when my youngest son was playing with some action figures on the floor. He was making engine sounds and yelling sounds and sounds unutterable. I assumed he was off on some adventure conquering kingdoms. I figured he was in a land far away in his mind. These are the things we would imagine a 5-year-old would be pretending to do. How wrong I was!
I caught a small slice of the dialogue, and here is what I heard:
One action figure to another: “When will we get there?”
The action figure’s answer: “Don’t ask that question!”
So what my son was replaying was our usual conversation that occurs when we travel to “lands far away”, or maybe just Fort Worth. I should add that my usual answer is preceded by “Please”.
